The Coffee Break, at 54th and Troost, is a fantastic place. If you haven’t been GO!
Their summer concert series “Cup of Kindness”, organized by songwriters Elaine McMillan and Emily Tummons, is designed to raise money and awareness for area non-profits.
The Midwest Musical Foundation benefit there on Friday July 24th was an excellent opportunity to see some Kansas City songwriters do their thing.
Jenny Carr went on first. She writes incredibly smart and wry songs, a Mistress of the craft one might say. Next came the rare opportunity to see Fred Wickham and Rich Burgess (of Hadocol and Expassionates respectively) do their thing. They certainly know their way around a song, and its awesome to hear Rich sing! And last but certainly not least, Elaine McMillan and Scott Easterday with their amazing set to close out the evening. Fabulous as always! The whole night was a blast!
Thanks to everyone who played, Elaine and Emily, and the Coffee Break.
