Photo Blog #5, KC Uncovered
Over the years I have been involved in a small handful of projects like SLIMM Spins, Boozeday Tuesdays, and Name That Tune just to name a few. Ive met a lot of great people and have a lot of great memories. But last Saturday night (May 22nd) was probably my proudest project to date. KC Uncovered, put together by Bill Sundahl and myself.
The concept was simple, 5 local bands place their CD’s in a hat, they each draw one at random and then they have 3 months to learn 5 songs from that CD.
The bands were The Bleachbloodz, Federation of Horsepower, Last Call Girls, Afterparty and American Catastrophe.
Each and every band brought something special that night. The Bleachbloodz NAILED “Hang em High” by AmCat. Federation did the same on Bleachbloodz “East Side of Town”. Afterparty and Last Call Girls covered each others music as good as their own. And Amcat took FOHP and…….well im not even sure that can be put into words. Just imagine if someone took a Motorhead collection and played it with a banjo, some toy pianos and a popes hat.
See, I told you i cant really put all that into words!
It was a night that really made me proud to be at least a small part of the Kansas City “scene”. Ya i know its a bit cliche but im okay with being a part of a ‘scene” especially one like this. It was just one more example of this cities ability to work together to make for a very special and unique evening.
I cant thank everyone involved enough.
This is a small set of a few of my favorite photos from that evening. see the rest at

Further proof of not only the creativity of the music/arts scene here in KC, but of the spirit of community and support of one another. Killer gig, man. Looking forward to Vol. 2.
